COVID-19: Bhilwara sealed after 6 test positive


Jaipur, March 20 (IANS): Bhilwara city in Rajasthan has been sealed after six new cases of coronavirus were registered. The total tally of patients in the state now stands at 17, confirmed health officials adding that an undeclared curfew has been clamped in Bhilwara with people advised to stay indoors.

They are allowed to go out for a few hours in the morning and evening.

The new new cases registered on Friday include six cases from Bhilwara which include three doctors and three other medical staff while two are from Jaipur.

A total of 27 samples were sent for screening from Bhilwara out of which six have found to be positive and they are kept in isolation here, said Pawnesh Sharma, PRO, Bhilwara.

Speaking to IANS, he said a few provisions under Section 144 had been strengthened here as people have been asked to remain confined in their houses, its an undeclared curfew kind situation. All district borders have been sealed, police and medical, transport department teams have been deputed to screen any other vehicle coming and going from here.

Vegetable vendors will also not be allowed, as only petrol pumps and medical shops shall remain open, he said.

The Bangad Hospital out of which the six patients have found positive has been completely sealed and area within one kilometre has initiated zero mobility, he informed.

Sources said that a patient came with travel history to this hospital and hence the infection spread, Sharma informed.

All patients who registered here at the OPD since last 15 days have been traced and their screening shall be done, Bhilwara hence has been put on high alert and 400 isolation wards have been set up in 13 places, he added.

Additional Chief Secretary Health Rohit Kumar Singh said that RRT teams have been called from Udaipur to sanitise all railway stations, bus stations, hospitals, public places and religious places too in Bhilwara.

He further said that 300 teams of ANM, Asha, Anganwadi, and nursing students are on door-to-door surveys.

In Jhunjhunu too, different teams served over 7,500 houses. People with travel history after February 15 are being traced and orders have been given for their home isolation.

A total of 2,015 people are under home isolation while 64 are in isolation in different hospitals of the state while 512 are been quarantined, he said.
