Coronavirus cases in Chandigarh rise to seven


Chandigarh, Mar 23 (IANS): Chandigarh on Monday reported another coronavirus case, taking the total number of people to seven.

The latest case is a 21-year-old man, who had come in contact with the brother of Chandigarh's first coronavirus patient, who had returned from Britain.

He has been admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32.

The administration said in a statement that all seven patients are stable.

The administration on Sunday decided to impose partial restrictions till March 31 to prevent spread of coronavirus.

All non-essential establishments, including offices, schools, colleges, factories and other business establishments, would be closed.

All public transport would also be suspended.

However, essential services, including vegetable, ration and chemist shops will remain open.

The administration has advised the people not to believe in rumours and take all preventive steps as being communicated from time to time.

All are also advised to stay indoors and not to come out unless there is urgency, it added.
