Tripura House passes budget, adjourns


Agartala, March 23 (IANS): As a Covid-19 preventive measure, the Tripura Assembly adjourned sine die after approving the budget in "guillotine" and curtailing the five-day budget session to two, here on Monday.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma on Friday presented a Rs 19,891 crore tax-free budget for 2020-21. The budget session that begun on March 20 was scheduled to continue until March 26.

The MALs, cutting across party line, expressed deep concern over the rapid spread of the Covid-19 in India and the world and decided to curtail the Assembly session.

Later, Deputy Speaker Biswabandhu Sen cut short the scheduled businesses and adjourned the House sine die.
