New Delhi, Mar 26 (IANS): There are at least 633 active Covid-19 cases in India at present, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Thursday, taking the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country to 694.

Besides 633 active cases, the country has reported 16 casualties so far while 44 persons have recovered.

The disease has impacted at least 647 Indian nationals and 47 foreign nationals and has so far spread to 27 states and UTs. A total of 103 districts have been affected by the highly contagious virus.

The Health Ministry said that a total of 15,24,266 passengers have been screened at different airports. The data was put out by the Health Ministry at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Earlier at a press conference, Joint Health Secretary Lav Agarwal said, "43 new confirmed cases and 4 new deaths due to coronavirus were reported on Thursday."

Looking at the trend so far in India, four deaths in a day is the highest number of fatalities reported in a single day.

Urging people to follow the lockdown measures being imposed by the government, Agarwal said, "If even one person does not cooperate in following the lockdown, we will lose the momentum of containing Covid-19."
