Mangalore, Nov 29: It was another big day for Konkani with the release of music album of veteran Konkani composer and singer, Apolinaris D'Souza in the city on Sunday November 29. The album, 'Jeevan Sangeeth' was released by Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief of daijiworld.com at Sandesha Cultural Foundation.

Walter Nandalike, releasing the album said that, it was an extreme honour for him to release the album of an artiste of such a great calibre. A quality artiste, he has pride of a place in the heart of every Konkani speaking member as his hymns are sung by everyone in the church. His voice and words will always live with Konkani people, he said.

Nandalike urged Konkani music lover to prevent piracy in the field of music and requested Eric Ozario and Mandd Sobhann team to come to the rescue of sincere Konkani artistes, who face a great loss due to audio piracy.

Ozario in his address recalled his association with Apolinaris, and said Apolinaris is truly a down to earth and humble personality, who has come up in life due to his own efforts and talent. Responding to the request made by Nandalike, Ozario said that in the recent days though his hopes were dwindling, yet he witnesses a silver lining whenever a new Konkani album takes shape and he makes efforts to take it to every Konkani home. Though it needs investments, he hoped that his dream would be fulfilled with the support of the people around. He assured that, he and his team will work seriously to take step towards taking Konkani articles to every home through a mobile van.

Apolinaris in his thanksgiving speech remembered everyone who contributed towards his success in the music field. He made a special mention about Fr Walter Albuquerque, who he always considered as his mentor. His wife Joyce's special care and love has made him big, he said humbly acknowledging the encouragement received from her.

Apoli – a man with real God given talent. During the annual Konkani Natak Sabha competitions, candidates from other parishes acknowledged you as an unassailable entrant and it was always proven right. I have heard many Konkani singers in my 55 years :) and I think you and Wilfy are the only ones worth its salt. Your original hymns Vandan Tuka Somiyam, Organ Tuka Somiyam and others still bring forth sweet memories of my teenage days in Valencia when singing competitions and church choirs were conducted by Mr. Manny Pinto (fondly known and remembered as Maniab) and yourself. There are a number of Konkani composers but none have that steam. You had added the initial flavor to the Konkani Liturgy starting in Valencia which later on extended to others. Apoli – it is great to hear about your new album keep up the good work and may God bless you with a long successful pleasant and gratifying life and bless us with more of your masterpieces!!

Congratulations to you, dear Apolinaris, for a wonderful job in creating a new audio-album "Jeevan Sangeeth". Your latest CD along with your two previous ones will be added to many of the libraries that we are involved in Mangalore and elsewhere. Your new cd will be the first one in the list of 2000 cds out of more than 50 languages that I am gathering for the Late Lethicia & Joseph Lobo Audio-video Memorial Studio that we are creating at the St. Aloysius Beeri complex in Mangalore for the benefit of the sudents. We wish you and your family continued success in all your future dedication towards Konkany language and Konkany society.{We were also happy to see Sr.Maria Goretti in the picture after a long time). May God bless you and your family in all your future Konkany undertakings, and "Dhanyawaadh".
