Mann ki Baat: Modi apologises for harsh steps to fight COVID-19


New Delhi, Mar 29 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday during his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat' apologised for taking harsh steps to fight COVID-19 outbreak.

He said, "I apologise for taking these harsh steps which have caused difficulties in your lives, especially the poor people. I know some of you would be angry with me also. But these tough measures were needed to win this battle."

He further said, "The battle against COVID-19 is a tough one and it did require such harsh decisions to keep the people of India safe."

He also spoke to people who had suffered from the virus attack and had recovered. He asked them to take their stories forward. He spoke to doctors and asked them how they were dealing with the attack.

For the first time since India went into the lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Modi presented his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'. The programme had invited suggestions from individuals.

    Those travellers and migrant worker should have got time to reach their destinations at least.
    I saw a video clip where a policeman kicking the vegetable to chase away the vendor. Is this humanity. Should the edible available for consumers or not. Do they want people to die of starving ????
    Many got beaten by authorities left right and center. There are reasons for people to be out. Not everybody is enjoying being out.

    All are supposed to be at home as per advise. Thats the end of the story. Legal grocery stores are open. The ones you mentioned are illegal street vendors , this is not the time for them to make money. Perhaps it happened during the previous regime after paying Hafta to the authorities.
