Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Mar 29: A criminal case has been filed against a person for making derogatory comments in a WhatsApp post against the district administration.

The accused, identified as Melwyn Pinto, had allegedly written and circulated a WhatsApp post making defamatory remarks against deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, over her handling of the lockdown situation amid coronavirus outbreak.

The post was circulated on March 28 and had gone viral.

A press release from the DC stated that the post contained false information and fabrications, and created anxiety and confusion among the public. Stringent action would be taken against Pinto, the DC said.

Collection centre for essential items

The DC also informed that those willing to donate groceries in this difficult time can do so at a collection centre set up by the district administration at Smart City building.

The kit can include rice, dal, sunflower oil, masala packet, sambar, garam masala powder, pickles, vegetables and pulses.

Commissioner of Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has been appointed nodal officer for the same, and may be contacted on toll free number 1077 for any enquiry.

Administration must stop the comments from citizens. If any body wants to comment on any issues, they must go personally to DC,POLICE COMMISSIONER, OR TO OUR MP ,MLA. NO BODY SHOULD ALLOW TO MAKE COMMENTS ON ANY ISSUES THROUGH MEDIA. When our administration is struggling hard to give the facilities to citizens, our duty is to thank them.

In addition to my comments, what is most important is to understand malafied intentions of the critiser. If the intention is clear and the comment is constructive criticism, the Administration need to be more soft in their actions which is my personal view.

While everyone must be held responsible for their post/comments, Government employees should not overreact, instead make them responsible by compelling them to see the truth and participate in community service.
