Tenor Placido Domingo in hospital with Covid-19 complications

New York, March 30 (IANS): Veteran Spanish tenor Placido Domingo, who had announced he was coronavirus positive last week, has been hospitalised in Mexico's Acapulco after complications, reports said on Monday.

Domingo, 79, is doing well but will "remain in the hospital as long as the doctors find it necessary" for a full recovery, his spokesman said, as per reports in the US media.

The singer revealed the positive diagnosis in a March 22 Facebook post, in which he reminded fans of the importance of hand-washing and following official guidelines.

He has said he was "grateful and moved by the wave of messages I have received from so many people"

Domingo had recently resigned from the Los Angeles Opera after he was accused of sexual harassment.
