Lockdown day 6: No positive coronavirus cases reported in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Mangaluru, Mar 30: None were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi district, on Monday, March 30.

On March 30, 48 people were screened and as of date a total of 38,279 people are screened in the district. As of date, 5,875 are under home quarantine. There are no people currently under quarantine in Wenlcok Hospital. In ESI Hospital, 28 are under quarantine.

As many as 169 people completed their 28 day mandatory home quarantine period. As many as 8 samples were sent for test. Results of nine samples were received on Monday of which all nine emerged negative. As many as four have been admitted to be kept under observation.

In Udupi, as of date three people are identified to have contracted Covid-19. Of these, one is admitted in isolation ward of KMC and two in isolation ward of District Hospital.

As many as 2309 people in Udupi district have been tested. While 314 were registered for mandatory home quarantine, 1072 completed the 14 days and 127 the 28 days mandatory home quarantine.

Till date, 28 in Udupi have been admitted to the hospital for quarantine. As many as 140 samples have been sent for test of which 126 sample results are received. Of these, 123 emerged as negative and three as positive. Result of 14 samples is awaited. As many as 1056 people are under observation in their homes and hospitals.

Kasargod

In Kerala, 32 new cases were reported taking the total number of active cases to 213. The highest were reported in Kasargod, with 17 new cases. Kannur had 11 cases, Wayanad and Idukki had two cases.

Of the 32, 17 had history of foreign travel. The other 15 had contracted the virus through contact.

Meanwhile, 20 people who were tested positive for Covid-19 have recovered. These include the five member family from Pathanamthitta, in which three had arrived from Italy.

    But 6 people committed sucide because they didnt have access to alcohol. Yes they were alchoholics. No doubt. But do we as a society realize that alcoholism is a desiese ?? No. Most of dont. But we try sebding them to rehabilitation not in the mindset of helping them, but in the mindset of helping ourselves. We just want to get rid of them, without understanding the real issue. We simply closed down the wine shops, the hotels, roads transportation etc and allowed our police to pounce on them like hungry lions. We have never understood the real issue. And we expect a sane society thinking corona is the only issue we face. ,

    Please get testing started in KMC manipal. Can't imagine that one of the top hospital cum medical college in the country has not yet been certified!
