Vijayan hopeful about opening of Kerala-Karnataka border

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 31 (IANS): Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said here on Tuesday despite talks with Union Ministers about opening the border with Karnataka, it had not happened.

Stating that he had talks with Amit Shah and Sadananda Gowda, the Chief Minister said, they talked nicely. "I am optimistic. They have not come back to me. Maybe they are working on it," said Vijayan.

For the past three days, Vijayan has been pressing for opening of borders at Kasargode and Coorg for goods traffic.

    This boarder will never be opened as Karnataka Government is, by oath and mandate, duty bound to protect the lives and livelihood of people living in the state. Sealing the boundary is a standard protocol to prevent spread of an epidemic. Movement of essential commodities should be allowed but a big NO to people movement as carriers cannot be allowed to move freely across boarders. If Kerala can seal the inter district boarder between Kasargod and Kannur to prevent spread of epidemic, Karnataka has every right to do so to protect its people from the pandemic. Covid 19 patients from Kerala should not be admitted in Government Hospitals meant for people of the state. Let Kerala CM answer to whole nation why Kasargod remains underdeveloped even after 64 years of state formation. Why more than 10% of Keralites, leaving the number one (or number 2!)state in the country, is forced to migrate to neighbour states for their livelihood. Communists always open mouth for either eating or telling lies and Mr. Vijayan is not an exception to this dictum. Let us make this nonsense people understand that stealing food from neighbor's kitchen should not be a long term strategy to satisfy hunger....!

    Better shut the border permanently till everything settles down! Do not try to invite fresh problems and repent later!
    This may lead to a disaster. This is the time to take a firm decision! Everybody knows "Law is blind"
