Delhi police detain, let off over 3,000 for violating lockdown


New Delhi, Mar 31 (IANS): Delhi Police has started acting tough against lockdown violators, detaining as many as 3,763 people so far under the Delhi Police Act and later letting them off after a warning.

Police spokesperson Anil Mittal told IANS on Tuesday that 239 persons were proceeded against under Section 188 of the IPC (disobedience to a government order).

The police also impounded 546 vehicles under the Delhi Police Act, he said, adding the police also issued 1,254 movement passes (curfew passes) on Tuesday.
