Puttur, Apr 2: An advocate from Uppinangady was taken into custody by the police and health department, presuming that his visit to Delhi during March was to take part in the convention organized by Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin, Delhi. He has now been kept in the intensive care unit at Mangaluru.

It is learnt that he had visited Delhi to attend work at Supreme Court. He had returned 12 days back by flight to Bengaluru and then reached Uppinangady by bus. One of his pictures undergoing coronavirus test at Supreme Court had been published in a newspaper. This has helped the man to prove that he was in the Supreme Court.

Information that was shared in social websites had linked his Delhi visit to the said convention and this had given rise to confusion.

In the meantime, two residents of Pilar Daranda Bagilu and Chembugudde, Ullal, were taken to Wenlock Hospital and their throat swabs were collected and sent for testing. It however is said that they had taken part in a programme held in West Bengal in February and had returned during that month.

In the meanwhile, Udupi deputy commissioner has confirmed that none from his district had taken part in the religious convention organized at Nizamuddin New Delhi.
