Odisha CM appeals to Tablighi attendees to come for test

Bhubaneswar, Apr 4 (IANS): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday appealed to all who attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin to come forward voluntarily and get the test done for COVID-19.

The appeal of the Chief Minister came a day after three persons with link to Tablighi Jamaat were found coronavirus positive.

Patnaik requested them to call on toll-free number - 104 immediately, consult doctors and get the test done in 24 hours.

"Do not panic. I and my government are always with you. I would also like to request all the women in the state to cooperate with us for the safety of their family members," said the Chief Minister in a written appeal.

"We once again request all who have linkage to Nizamuddin incident to voluntarily call 104 and provide information about their contacts. There is no need to panic and hide. Anyone having any information about such persons may inform 104. Help us to keep you safe," said the Health department.

The government has so far identified 68 persons from Odisha who had attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin. While 28 returned to Odisha, rest 40 persons are in quarantine in other states.

Out of 28 persons identified in the state, 25 tested negative while 3 were confirmed positive (one each in Cuttack, Puri and Jajpur).

Odisha has so far had 20 confirmed Covid-19 patients.
