Tehsildar injured in stone-pelting by sand mafia in MP


Gawalior, Apr 6 (IANS): Even as the country is under a 21-day nationwide lockdown, sand mafia in Madhya Pradesh is active and has injured a Tehsildar who was part of a patrol team, a senior officer said on Monday.

Tehsildar Kuldeep Dubey and his deputy Kamal Singh Koli were on patrol in the area under Bhitarwar police station on Sunday night when they came across a number of vehicles parked in the Sankhli bridge area and an unspecified number of persons present there.

When the team of officials reached there, A group of persons pelted them with stones, injuring Dubey.

Bhitarwar SDM (Revenue) told the media on Monday that a case has been registered against five named accused and 50 others for illegal sand mining in the Chambal riverbed.
