76-yr-old man dies; 37-yr-old doc tests positive in Jodhpur


Jaipur, Apr 9 (IANS): A 76-year-old man from Jodhpur became the seventh patient in Rajasthan to die from coronavirus on Thursday while a 37-year-old doctor who was involved in house-to-house survey in the same city tested positive on Thursday, confirmed Additional Chief Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh.

The deceased was symptomatic and identified during survey, died on Thursday night at 12.30 am, said Singh.

He was admitted late night on Wednesday as he had difficulty in breathing and had suffered from cough. His swab was collected soon after his death and the report came on Thursday afternoon after 12 hours of his death, said officials adding that he had returned from Pune a few days back.

Singh said 47 fresh cases for coronavirus were reported in Rajasthan.

Out of these, 11 are from Jaipur, seven each in Tonk, Jhalawar and Jhunjhunu, five in Jaisalmer, three in Jodhpur, two in Banswara and one in Barmer.

Till date, seven deaths have been reported in Rajasthan - two in Bhilwara and one each in Alwar, Kota, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner.
