Mumbai/Pune, Apr 9 (IANS): In the highest single day fatalities so far, Mumbai and Pune on Thursday recorded 9 and 7 Covid-19 deaths respectively, taking Maharashtra's toll to 88, officials said.
With 9 fresh deaths, the Mumbai's total fatalities shot up to 54, besides 79 new corona cases, while Pune division recorded 7 deaths increasing the toll to 23 besides adding 53 new cases.
The two cities together account for 77 - the lion's share - of the total 88 deaths recorded in the state till date.
The total number of Corona positive cases in Mumbai now stands at 775 and 246 in Pune till Thursday, but the figures are likely to change after the state's final data is released later .
Among the deaths today, both cities had 3 women each, while the number of males who died is 6 in Mumbai and 4 in Pune.
