Sarpanch who sanitised her village questions Sonia on 'Bhilwara Model'

Jaipur, Apr 11 (IANS): As the ruling Congress in Rajasthan continues to draw laurels for the successful implementation of the 'Bhilwara Model' to contain the spread of coronavirus, the sarpanch of Devariya Gram Panchayat in Bhilwara, Kismat Gurjar, on Saturday hit out at the party for crediting Rahul Gandhi for the success of the experiment without giving credit to the people of the district.

The sarpanch took to Twitter and said that it was wrong for Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to give entire credit to Rahul Gandhi as it was the result of combined efforts of people of the town, including farmers and women.

She said they had sincerely followed the appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to follow social distancing and other hygiene measures meticulously.

Gurjar had herself taken up the task of sanitising the village lanes. Her video sanitising the local lanes went viral a few days back.

Bhilwara's "ruthless containment model" came in for widespread appreciation in containing the corona spread within a few days.

The city has 27 corona positive patients, while two had died, all 25 have tested negative. The district administration has formed over 200 rapid response teams who promptly sealed the areas whenever a corona positive patient came up.
