Mangalore, Dec 12:
Members of the Muslim Merchants Association burned an effigy of a Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) leader on Friday December 11, near Kudroli, protesting his recent remarks against the Muslim community.

Members and activists of Muslim Merchants Association burned the effigy of Jagadeesh Shenava, leader of VHP, who made the comments during a protest against ‘love jihad’ held recently in Konaje organized by the Bajarang Dal and the VHP.

Ali Hasan, president of the committee, said that Shenava spoke against the entire Muslim community without knowing the facts and his speech hurt religious sentiments.

“His remarks are anti-social and provocative to communal harmony. The police should arrest him immediately and take strict legal action against him. The protest is a symbolic way to cause the police department and district administration to look into the matter”, he added.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Popular Front of India (PFI), and Democratic Youth Front of India (DYFI), demanded that the police arrest Jagadeesh Shenava for his comments hurting religious sentiments.

Lost hope with the people of PFI. Sad, these people good at demonstrations on any petty issues by dragging the whole community into it for no reasons. Ignore their call please.
