Lucknow: After family fight, woman tosses her children into river

Lucknow, Apr 13: In a gruesome incident reported from Bhadohi within the limits of Gopigunj police station in Uttar Pradesh, a lady threw all five of her children into Ganga river after fighting with her husband. Manju Yadav, wife of Mridul Yadav from Jahangirabad village was the one who ended the lives of her children. The incident happened during the early hours of Sunday, April 12.

Manju Yadav had five children, Aarthi, Saraswathi, Maateshwari, Shivashankar, and Keshav Prasad. She had a long-standing fight with her husband. At around midnight on Saturday, the fight prolonged at the end of which Manju took her children to Jahangirabad ghat and tossed the children into the river water.

Manju, who was found sitting on the river banks by local fishermen, informed the police. The police have launched a search for the children.

Some accounts also said that the mother decided to kill her children as she was frustrated at her inability to feed them due to the financial crisis created by the lockdown. She was a daily wage worker and could not earn anything since the last some days. Senior police officers said that the woman was mentally unstable. They said they will undertake a detailed investigation before reaching a conclusion.
