Mangaluru: Home guard staff seeks help from kind-hearted readers

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Apr 14: Without livelihood, it is extremely difficult to live in present times. But if there are no one at home who is able to work, then the situation of such a home becomes hopeless. They have to live in the shadow of help of other people. Similar is the heart-wrenching story of a home guard staff, who is a resident of Shaktinagar here.

Champa Chammagarthi is a resident of Mogarodi of Shaktinagar in the city. She is unmarried. She used to work as a home guard for the past 26 years. She joined work for a paltry salary of Rs 12. For the past 11 years Champa used to discharge her duties as a traffic home guard attached to Kadri traffic police station.

Champa's dedication towards her work is recognized by various organizations. She is felicitated by more than 20 organizations for her braveness in working at the toughest traffic circle of Nanthoor in the city since last six years.

Now Champa is not able to work since two months as she is terribly sick. She is not able to even get up and walk at present. Her body, below the waist has lost its strength. Doctors have diagnosed that she has disc problem.

Champa has lost her father and mother. At present she is residing with her younger sister, whose husband Udaya is also suffering from Kidney related ailment in addition to heart condition. Champa's sister works as housemaid.

Because of both Champa and her brother-in-law Udaya falling sick and not able to even get out of the house, the whole family is in dire straits. Champa's sister has two children. If the family makes enough to buy medicines, they will have to starve. If they eat food, then there is no money left for medicines of both Champa and Udaya. The present coronovirus lock down has pushed the family into further trouble as the only earning member, sister of Champa is also not able to go for work.

No one is there to listen to the woes of this family. MLA of this area needs to visit the family and know their plight. The traffic department of Kadri, with which Champa had worked for 11 years should also render help.

The family has requested financial assistance by the kind-hearted readers of Daijiworld in order for them to survive in this world.
