UP police finds new way of contact tracing

Baghpat/Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 15 (IANS): In a novel initiative for contact mapping, posters of two Corona positive patients had been put up in Baghpat district to alert all those who had come in contact with the Corona positive persons.

The two patients hail from Bihar and had come to the district after attending the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi's Nizamuddin.

SP Baghpat Gopendra Yadav told IANS that "The appeal through these posters was part of the contact mapping process of Covid-19 positive patients. The two Corona positive patients had stayed in mosques but could not tell exactly where they had stayed because they came from Bihar. The posters were put up to ensure that everyone who has come in their contact should come forward to minimize the risk of the virus by putting them under quarantine."

The SP said that the posters had a positive impact and several people came forward and they were asked to remain in isolation and report if they had any symptoms of Corona."

The area where they stayed has already been sealed.

In a similar move, police in Mawana area in Meerut has spread a message with a picture of a vegetable vendor on social media platforms after he tested positive for the contagious disease.

In the message, police asked everyone who had come in the vendor's contact to come forward and get quarantined.
