All intercity buses from Sharjah suspended

Daijiworld Media Network - Sharjah (SD)

Sharjah, Apr 16: Intercity bus services at Al Jubail bus terminal in Sharjah have been temporarily suspended by the Sharjah Road and Transport Authority (SRTA).

An SRTA official said that the decision was taken in consideration of the safety of the workers as well as the commuters.

The authority considered the decision to be an appropriate preventive step to keep a check on the rapid spread of coronavirus.

As a lot of people travel during the non-sterilization period which also impacts the 'stay at home' regulation, the SRTA had decided to strengthen all preventive measures.

In order to avoid the large gathering of commuters, the SRTA has stopped bus services to all other emirates.

However, during the non-sterilization period taxi services will be available.

The SRTA had instructed all the cab drivers to wear face masks and maintain sterilizers in their cars. Meanwhile, SRTA is set to sterilize its fleet of 4,893 taxis.
