Paraplegic soldiers making face masks in Punjab


Chandigarh, Apr 18 (IANS): Paraplegic soldiers and their families at the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center in have been making cloth face masks in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, a statement said on Saturday.

A large quantity of masks has been provided to some hospitals for their use. The masks are also being sold through the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) shops and about 700 masks were distributed in the Chandimandir Military Station, an official statement said.

The Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center is a premier institute undertaking rehabilitation of defence personnel who become paraplegic on the line of duty.

It has also distributed masks among the police personnel and health workers on duty, to the poor and underprivileged and sanitation workers operating in the vicinity of the rehabilitation centre.

Another 900 masks are ready for distribution, it added.
