Rahul Gandhi thanks govt for amending FDI policy

New Delhi, Apr 18 (IANS): Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi here on Saturday thanked the central government for taking note of his warning and amending the foreign direct investment (FDI) policy to check opportunistic takeovers of Indian companies amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"I thank the government for taking note of my warning and amending the FDI norms to make it mandatory for government approval in some specific cases," Gandhi tweeted.

On April 12, Rahul Gandhi had tweeted: "The massive economic slowdown has weakened many Indian corporates making them attractive targets for takeovers.

The government must not allow foreign interests to take control of any Indian corporate at this time of national crisis."

Modi must be wishing he had a Rahul in place of a Nirmala.

In this period of crisis, will Modi cast his ego aside and thank the grandson of Indira for the suggestion on repelling the Chinese surgical strikes on Indian companies .

Rahul ji, has been talking sense all thru, without malice. Whether it is warning against Corona, in Feb 2020, or recent support for lock down and urging govt to go for more testing. However, the 10paise a trol army was commissioned to ensure every coment is rediculed like the godi media discussing fake news, while massive tragedy of daily laborers was unfolding. It's good that govt is listening now as even Samna, SS mouth piece has advised the Govt to hold dialogue with Raga.

I don't really understand why you are getting so worked up when Rahul Gandhi supports the central government's action It also happened to be one of the things he suggested a few days back

We all know that the opposition parties can't stand the policies of the government. They still are supporting the government's initiatives to ensure the coronavirus outbreak comes under control.

Is it too much to ask that you appreciate the fact that the whole country (including the opposition parties) is united to get rid of the coronavirus rather than trying to ridicule people like Rahul Gandhi, who in this particular instance is supporting the central government's action.

    Fair ask sir?

Even the government couldn't resist taking RAGA's advice. People made fun of him, abused him but still he is standing tall because he is educated.

This takes more guts than 56" chest to thank the govt by an opposition leader. It is worth noting govt is giving heed to Rahul Gandhi's wise and intelligent advice. Finally blind eyes are opening and sees the real world and correcting thier failures..........

Not 2000 but India has been receiving FDI throughout the world since the ground breaking economic reforms by the congress in 1992 for being a top developing emerging economy destination with 51% sharehold. But now the situation is different. It's more of owning the corporations through FDI who are running in loss or near extinction mainly by Chinese and Saudis who have ready cash and wealth. This will render India economically sold to foreign countries. It will be Indian invasion revisited.
