33 new corona patients in Rae Bareli


Lucknow, Apr 21 (IANS): Rae Bareli has suddenly emerged as a corona hotspot in Uttar Pradesh with 33 persons testing positive for COVID-19 taking the tally to 35 in the district.

Out of the 33 new coronavirus patients that were found in Rae Bareli on Monday night, 31 are connected to the Tablighi Jamaat members who hail from Saharanpur.

After these cases surfaced, the administration in the district has been put on alert.

Rae Bareli is the parliamentary constituency of Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi.

Earlier, Two of the Jamaat members had tested positive for corona and were admitted in a hospital.

Chief development officer Abhishek Goyal confirmed the new cases and said that the ones who had tested positive were those who had been quarantined in the Kripalu Institute. They are now being shifted to the isolation ward in the Rohania community health centre which is a level one Covid-19 hospital.

The official said that the contact tracing would be done as per the specified protocol.

Most of the persons who have tested positive for coronavirus are from Bahchhrawan, Nasirabad, and Sadar areas. All these areas are now being sealed since some of those who had tested positive are vegetable and fruit vendors.
