TN sees 33 more test positive, total tally 1,629


Chennai, Apr 22 (IANS); Thirty-three persons tested positive while 27 Covid-19 patients got discharged on Wednesday in Tamil Nadu, the state Health Department said.

In a statement issued here, the Health Department said that the new cases take the total tally to 1,629, while fresh discharges take the total number to 662.

The total number of persons who died due to Covid-19 remained at 18.

A total of 5,978 samples were tested for virus infection on Wednesday.

Meanwhile resident doctors at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital threatened to abstain from work if they are not provided with safe quarantine facilities.

Reacting to the protest DMK President M.K. Stalin, in a statement, wondered how the state government that cannot protect the doctors can protect lakhs of people.
