Srinagar administration to help the needy during Ramadan

Srinagar, Apr 24 (IANS): The Srinagar administration is reaching out to the needy people during the holy month of Ramadan starting Saturday by providing them with food and other essentials.

As many as 53,000 packets of food and essentials have been prepared for the people living on the margins. The packets will be delivered to them at their doorsteps.

"53,000 food packets have been prepared; all required items will be made available in these kits like rice, wheat, spices, tea and packets of dates. We plan to reach out to 55,000 families," an official of the administration said.

This is an effort by the Srinagar administration to ease the difficulties of the people in the month of Ramadan.

The ongoing Covid-19 induced lockdown is the second in Kashmir in less than a year. The shutdown following the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 lasted for months and crippled the economy of Kashmir.
