Bangalore : Tributes pour in for Vishnu, Ashwath
Bangalore, Jan 5 (DHNS) : Tributes came pouring in for the four legends of Kannada filmdom Vishnuvardhan, C Ashwath, stuntman Circus Boranna and Producer Chandulal Jain, who all passed away in the space of a fortnight at a Shraddanjali organised by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah and cine stars paid homage to the four departed souls, who shaped Kannada cinema over the past four decades. The function was marked by eulogies from Vishnuvardhan’s long term friends and associates, actors Dwarkish and Ambareesh.
Dwarkish said, “Vishnu was a soul mate, who gave me my rebirth and made my dreams come true. Cinematically also he has left behind a huge vacuum.” Ambareesh said that he still could not believe that Vishnuvardhan was no more.
CM said that the legends had made Kannada Cinema incredibly rich with their contribution. “Vishnuvardhan was a warm hearted and affectionate person,” he said. Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah said that the last days of 2009 were extremely cruel to the film industry and the void left by the legends can never be filled. Lok Sabha MP Ananth Kumar who was also present at the Shraddanjali called for a film city to be set up in Mysore in memory of the two biggest stars of Kannada cinema, Rajkumar and Vishnuvardhan.
