Combating coronavirus: Public parks in Dubai open for gatherings of 5 or fewer

Dubai, May 13: As part of the latest easing of restrictions to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the UAE on Tuesday, the Dubai public parks opened for gathering of five people or less.

The latest update by the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management allowed the return and refund of goods as well as the use of fitting rooms in shopping malls and retail outlets. These were done based on the condition that strict precautionary measures aimed at ensuring safety of the customers are followed. However, all previous preventive measures in shopping malls and retail outlets continue to be applied, said an update.

Hotels have been allowed to open their private beaches only to their guests while making sure stringent preventive measures, especially mandatory physical distancing between the individuals are observed.

According to the timelines given by the Roads and Transport Authority, trams and maritime transport, which includes the Dubai Ferry, water taxis, traditional and air-conditioned abras and car-sharing services can resume operations.

Moreover, sports and recreational activities in open areas such as cycling, water sports and skydiving for upto five people shall be permitted. Strict preventive measures are to be maintained throughout.

Officials stressed the necessity to abide by the precautionary and preventive measures laid down by the authorities in order to enhance protection and prevent the spread of the virus.
