Udupi: On Father's Day, DC Jagadeesha shares emotional message about his dad

Daijiworld media network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Jun 21: On the occasion of Father's Day, Udupi deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha took to Facebook to share an emotional message about his relationship with his father.

In a video, the DC said, "I have always begun my recent video messages by giving an explanation on the corona situation prevailing in the district. However, today I will be talking about something completely different. Today, I want to talk about my father. For everyone, their father is a hero. I also remember cherishing a book written by the author Manikanth on fathers, 'Appa Andre Aaksha'.

"I have always admired my father. Even when we were in poverty my father made sure we received good education. He would work in different homes to earn a living. With a family of 35 members living under one roof, earning a daily bread was quite difficult. My father brought paddy from someone else's house on loan. To ease his burden he could have asked anyone of his kids to work instead of getting an education, but he made sure we obtained proper education," G Jagadeesha added.

"My father would toil and beg in front of other people in order to pay our school fees. When my sister asked money for her school excursion my father urged the school and the teachers to not talk about such things with students, as he was unable to pay for them. I also recall a time when he requested an ice-cream seller to not visit our village as my he was unable to afford such treats.

"We would be fearful of him and at the sight of him would run and grab our books to study. Even though he never received any education, he made sure we were capable enough to sustain in this society. Words and time fall short to explain the sacrifices my father made and the admirable man that he is," he said.

G Jagadeesh also shared his own experience as a father, "I have two kids, Anushka and Abhignya. Their names start with 'A' because they should not be the last on the attendance book," he said in a lighter vein. "Ever since the pandemic intensified in the region I began staying away from my children, for at least one-and-a-half months as they may be vulnerable to the virus. I left them back in my native village and stayed in Udupi alone. A daughter will always consider her dad to be a hero. They learn from us, we can expect respect from our children only when we as kids have respected our parents. We can achieve things when we follow the righteous path set by our parents," he said.

Towards the end of the video, he wished Happy Father's Day to all the fathers.

Dc Mr. Jagadeesha you have nicely acknowledged your father's determination to educate you and your family. Your proper upbringing by your parents will make you a distinguished civil servant as per the rules and regulations of Karnataka State, and to provide justice to Kannadigas wherever required.

It was a very nice tribute, Sir, especially because fathers are unsung heroes of the family most of whose members are mother worshippers and as they grow older boys in particular feel some animosity.. Bless you as your father will.

A father may be a just a man to the world, but for a child, he is a hero and a Dad. A father is that symbol of strength that binds the entire family together. A Father is a person who works tirelessly to support the family economically as well as morally.

Father’s day is such an occasion which comes with a spirit of celebrating the presence of Father and his efforts in making up the life of the family. Father’s day is all about celebrating and expressing the gratitude and love towards our Father.

I wish all the readers a happy father's day.
