Byndoor, Jun 21: A police constable of Byndoor station tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday June 21.

Following the development, the offices of Byndoor sub-inspector and circle inspector have been closed for two days to carry out sanitization of the premises, after which normal functioning will resume.

In the meantime, for the next two days, the old CPI office will function.

A statement by ASP Hariram Shankar informed that all the staff of both the offices will be home-quarantined for 14 days. All primary contacts of the coronavirus patient will be tested after seven days, he said.


Bengaluru: More police personnel test positive for coronavirus, one ASI succumbs

Coronavirus cases are increasing day by day in Silicon city. That too, more and more police personnel are testing postive for the dreaded virus. On Sunday, June 21, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) died due to coronavirus.

In Kalasipalya police station so far nine police personnel had tested positive for coronavirus. On Sunday, 15 more personnel of the same police station tested positive and the total positive cases have risen to 24 from the same police station.

ASI of Wilson Garden police station of the city, who tested positive for coronavirus on Friday, succumbed on Sunday. He was getting treated in a private hospital in the city.

Covid-19 positive cases are increasing at an alarming rate in the city among the police personnel. This has caused great concern and has made the police personnel hestitate to carry out their normal duties.

Considering the graveness of the situation police commissioner Bhaskar Rao has given ten guidelines to the police personnel. They are as follows:

1. Face every situation boldly. Do not get frightened. Government and society have faith in you. All police personnel above the age of 55 years should remain at home. They should not go out of Bengaluru. Higher officials should monitor this.

2. Make use of young homeguards as far as possible. Joint commissioners and DCPs have to guide in this regard.

3. Shamianas and pendals should be installed outside police stations. All issues should be resolved outside the police station. Do not touch anyone, including the accused.

4. Hoysala and Cheetah petrol vans should not patrol unnecessarily. They should report only when there is call for assistance. Do not bring anyone without reason and make them sit in the police station.

5. Arrest only accused in the main cases. No need of arresting without any reason.

6. One Kalyana Mantapa should be made ready in every police station limits. Arrangements should be done for 25 police personnel to be stationed there.

7. Hot drinking water facility should be there in every police station. There is should be facility for washing hands and feet and taking bath. All police stations should have mask, sanitizer and face shield.

8. The vehicles that are used should be santitized everyday. Care should be taken while sanitizing to avoid any fire hazard. Public should not get affected because police personnel are under quarantine.

9. Emergency services should be provided to the public. Police personnel should wear gloves and speak to the public by standing at a safe distance.

    This was posted by many about police being exposed , but they felt that uniform and lathi will be their antidote and nothing will happen.
    Unfortunate though, but i guess the protection force also needs care , and understanding as they too are protecting people who have needs .
