NHRC employee succumbs to Covid-19, others test positive


New Delhi, Jun 26 (IANS): An employee at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has succumbed to Covid-19 while many others have contacted the virus, sources said on Friday.

According to the sources, the employee died three days ago. At least 16 were then found positive on the fifth floor of the building. The building was sanitised pursuant to this.

The NHRC is located in INA area in Delhi. The cases come amid spurt in the coronavirus cases in the capital and across the country.

On Friday, India witnessed its highest spike of Covid cases adding over 17,000 patients in just 24 hours taking the tally to barely 9,500 short of the grim five lakh mark.
