Udupi: Workshop on Role of Parents in Children’s Overall Development Organized

Udupi, Feb 24: Dr A V Baliga Group of Institutions, Udupi in association with IMA Charitable Trust, St Mary’s Primary School and St Cecily’s Primary School here organized a workshop on Role of parents in overall development of children at IMA hall, Brahmagiri, recently.
 
The programme was inaugurated by writer K T Gatti, the resource person.



Speaking on the occasion, Gatti said that parents should not be too ambitious about their children’s school performance. They should be allowed to grow in a free environment. Mother is the first teacher for the child and she should lay a strong foundation to child’s education, he said.

Suggesting that the disciplinary measures and punishments should not be too harsh on children, gatti said that love and affection can prove more beneficial than punishments most of the time.

Dr P V Bhandary, director, Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital presided. Dr H J Gowri, consultant paediatrician, Sonia Clinic, Manipal, Dr V L Nayak, managing trustee, IMA Charitable Trust and Dr Vijay Kumar Shetty, president, IMA were the chief guests.

More than 200 parents of primary school children attended the programme. Dr Virupaksha Devaramane, consultant psychiatrist and Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital, Udupi welcomed the guests. Prabha Hegde and Tara co-ordinated the programme. Nagraj Murthy delivered the vote of thanks.
