Bantwal: Youth booked for breaking home quarantine rules

Bantwal, Jul 15: The Bantwal rural police have registered a case against a young man from Thumbe for violating home quarantine rules.

Sahid (32), a resident of Kanemar in Thumbe village, had been served with notice by the Thumbe gram panchayat, asking him to undergo home quarantine from July 9 to 23. But when the personnel of Bantwal police station visited his house at 12.30 pm on July 14 to check whether the quarantine guidelines are being obeyed, he realized that Sahid was not at home. During the interaction with the family members, the policeman came to know that Sahid had flagrantly violated home quarantine rules as ordered by the government, visited different public places and had mingled with other people.

A case under sections 269, 270 and 271 of Indian Penal Code and section 5(1) of the Karnataka Epidemic Diseases ordinance 2020 has been registered against the transgressor.
