Mandya, Feb 28 (PTI) : An elderly devotee died and 35 others were injured in a stampede, that occurred during a religious procession at Adichunchanagiri, about 65 km from here, in the wee hours on Sunday, police said.
The stampede took place during the chariot procession of Gangadhareshwara at about 4:30 am, they said.The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old woman Nagamma, a resident of Shimshapura in Malavalli taluk.All the injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals, police said.
