Mangalore, Mar 1: Loretta Rebello, president Ladies Club, inaugurated ‘Nurturing Life’, a solo exhibition of paintings by artist Vasant Rao organized by Orchid Art gallery, Balmatta here on Saturday February 27.

Speaking on the occasion Rebello said that there lies an artist in everyone and it is through art we discover ourselves. The more you look at abstract art works, the more realistic they become, she added.

She was all praise for the art works of Vasant Rao and lauded the efforts of Orchid Art Gallery in creating art awareness in the city.

In the series of paintings Vasant Rao attempts to drive home the point of unpaid care that we are used to taking not so seriously like motherly love, brotherly affection and so on. The milking cow is used as metaphor for nurturing and for selfless giving. The final outcome of the painting is what the artist intended to achieve. He seems to have taken note of the place cow plays in the Indian context.
