60 Killed in Stampede in Ashram


Lucknow, March 4 (IANS) At least 60 people were killed and 25 injured in a stampede in an Uttar Pradesh ashram, police here said Thursday.

Sixty bodies had been recovered and more could have been killed in the tragedy in Mangarh area of Pratapgarh district's Kunda town, about 180 km from here, said Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal.

Some of the injured were reported to be in critical condition.

The incident took place when a free lunch, or a bhandara, hosted by Kripaluji Maharaj was taking place, a government official added.

The official said the stampede broke out when a temporary tin shed caved in and a gate leading to the ashram collapsed.

    They are another type of Robin Hood. They suck the society in wholesale and give a pittance to the vulnerable poor in the society and exploit the gullible in the name of religion. Use better sense and try to reason by yourself instead of blindly falling into the traps of these holy-men.

    Maya is busy in building Parks and Gardens with her STATUES. So, where she has time for poor. This is bound to happen. Sad to know this. Poor people are starving by hunger and our Dalit CM is not even bothered about this.

    Such kind of unfortunate incidents happened before in Bangalore,Chennai,UP.and other states for free sarees and food

    For a day's lunch poor people gathering and curious is a natural thing.But what about preventive security ? we will not learn lessons from the past instead waiting to happen these kind of incidents.Our heartfelt condolences to the deceased.
