Bangalore : 'Nice' Protest : Trainload of Ryots Leave for Delhi

Bangalore, March 7 (DHNS): On the hot Sunday afternoon, Bangalore City Railway Station resounded with slogans against NICE and its promoter Ashok Kheny as a special train carrying supporters of the Janata Dal(S), CPI (M), Dalit Sangharsh Samiti and other organisations steamed out of the station for Delhi where they would be staging a protest against alleged irregularities in land allotment for the BMIC.

The train’s bogies were festooned with flags of the parties and farmers and their family members peered through the windows to catch a glimpse of H D Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy taking stock of the arrangements for the farmers’ departure to the nation’s Capital. The special train carrying 1,584 farmers to Delhi was flagged off by Gowda and his sons on Sunday from Bangalore. They will be staging a dharna on March 11 and 12 to draw the attention of Parliament and the Centre on the NICE issue.

Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy are scheduled to leave for Delhi on Sunday night or Monday morning.

Special train

JD(S) sources said the 20-bogie special train hired by the party is scheduled to reach Delhi on Tuesday morning and will return after four days. Groceries for the protestors including rice, sugar, jowar, ragi and milk are being carried by the train. Railway authorities said JD(S) managed to get the train by paying lakhs of rupees and by lobbying with the Railways over the past three weeks.

Optimism

Addressing reporters at the railway station, Kumaraswamy said he was optimistic of getting ‘justice’ by staging the agitation. After stating the rally, rhe farmers will  present a memorandum to the President and Prime Minister explaining their case against NICE. The agitators will also speak to various party leaders at the national level to explain the factual position on land acquisition and how farmers were forced to part with their land for the road project, he added.

Deve Gowda said that he would request Speaker Meira Kumar to allow him to raise the BMIC issue in Lok Sabha.

Fake Gowda & his family. They are so greedy of money. It looks like Deve gowda is carring money in truck loads while going UP!!!
Only problem behind the NICE issue is Gowda & his family. His son Kumara is now saying that he wanted to close the chapter of NICE when he had power, but deputy CM Yeddi didn't allow him. If he was the real lover of agriculturists, he should have disolved the govt then giving the reason that my pertners are not allowing to do this.
This gowda family has thousands of acres of land grabbed from poor families. Fake fake fake Gowda. When are you going UP?

Mr. Deve Gowda is really a true soldier and committed Indian citizen. There is no match to him in the whole of India.

He should be bestowed with the honour of Governorship of Jammu Kashmir or Nagaland.

Jai Ho Deve Gowda! Jai Ho India

Try to check spellings before clicking the mouse.I am also making spelling mistake but when that spelleing mistake gives another meanning means..........

It is personal opinion not PERSONNEL as you said.what is ISIDE story??no clue!!!(few only mentioned.Pls check more spelling mistakes)

As far Mr Deve Gowda Concerned,he is Ex PM and having Z plus security and his movement path dicided by them. However I am not supporting the move as it gives wrong signal.

As far as Navin Avil's comment concerned, everybody can give their personal opinion rather than official or collective opinion! What my opinion/comment on said particular issue was correct and on record.Ignorance and narrow mind of Navin Avil's are unfortunate and self exposing.Keep writing good comments!!???

Ismail: Nice was signed when deva gowda was the CM. So don't presume this gowda is some holy cow protecting the farmers..It is all money. He and his corrupt sons have made thousands of crores but still want cut and share in every real estate/mining/industry that are setup in karnataka. Remember Tata wanted to setup an Intl airport in blore but backed out after some years? wht becoz devagowda wanted a cut and the location to be near hisland in south blore..

Sometime back we had an article when the Sooda-Belman-Nandalike area was denotified for Industrialisation and all of us echoed opposition to that. Now when they same is done by farmers affected by NICE, we call them anti-government.
This NICE is nothing but a huge real estate scam. No doubt it provides road connectivity, but at the same time Mr Kheni is trying to swallow huge land with his influence upto the BJP central leadership. Someone needed to lead a revolt against this and Devegowda is doing it. All those people commenting from Dubai/KSA, please spend some time to read about Karnataka politics which is better covered by kannada dailies.

Its shocking to see Mr.Gowda get his car on the platform .
People who have travelled on the NICE road will know how Mr.Gowda created problems from motorists entering from Bannerghata in to the NICE road by having a small half km of land under his control.

The less we speak of him the better .Its really shameful to see certain people speak in his support without knowing the facts!!

    MR Promod Udupi and others,

Mr Gowda's car is not his own.It is privided by state. In short from BJP Govt. Those people who commented in this column are did not loose any inch of land.NICE INFRASTRUCTURE CORRIDOR is not innocent as we thought to be.You know Mr Kheny hoarded BJP Ministers in 5 Star hotel blocking to attend cabinet meeting for the issue of same subject.Perhaps this may be the biggest ever recorded scandal in Indian History.
Mr Kheny himself agreed in an interview with TV Channel,he purchased land 4-5KM away from road to build Bus terminal, resort, shopping complex ect.Now one can may come to the conclusion that there is some misgiving either in agreement or in company. Therefore pls wait some time to get on this issue.

As Mr Devegowda concerned,he is fighter right from his childhood. He is not simply paper leader, he has mass followers. He will not keep quiet and finish his mission with people's support.

No Party,Govt free from corruptions.Given the situation BJP govt is more corrupt than Cong/JDS as we are watching helplessly Mining scandal,NICE scandal,Fertile land grabing for Industrilisation & real estate by govt ect ect. Then time will only tell the fate of Karnataka State.

My simple question to the authorities, how did they allow Devegowda's Car to roll its wheels on the railway platform, that too a train next to it. I really feel pity for Mr. Gowda's followers. He is fooling them by personally coming to see them off and then take a flight next day to Delhi and stay in the 5 star Airconditioned hotel but his so called poor farmers will be starving on the streets of Delhi, agitating in front of the parliament, where as Mr. Gowda will be enjoying his stay in a 5 star hotel in Delhi.

Do we need any more example of how our politicians are looting & Fooling the poor, illiterate people of our country?

Pathetic. This man doesn't have any self esteem. How can he drive his car on to the the Railway Platform and how can the authorities allow this? Now, all those terrorists, instead of killing so many innocent people in Pune/Mumbai, should get rid of politicians like the Gowda fly. At least there would be faster development of our nation. May be, at least then, India will get the status of a developed nation.
