Bantwal, Mar 8: While reminding the people of the country that sacrifice and service have been the high points of the Indian heritage, Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Odiyoor Sri Gurudevadatta Samsthan cautioned the youth to behave responsibly, exercise restraint, imbibe discipline in their lives and not to take law into their hands. “The youth power is the backbone on which a stronger and safer country can be built. The youngsters should unite to make this happen,” he advised.

The Swamiji was delivering the benedictory address at the mega Hindu convention organized at the playground of Vittal government model higher primary school on Sunday March 7. The convention had been organized by Hindu Yuva Sangama Samiti on the occasion of the silver jubilee of Bajrang Dal. He advised the local youngsters to get actively involved with the reconstruction of Lord Panchalingeshwara temple in Vittal region, a rare, ancient temple that has not been given the attention it deserves.

About 7,000 people participated in the convention. M Radhakrishna Nayak, an entrepreneur from Vittal, presided.

In his address, Sri Mohandas Swamiji of Manila Sridharama felt that the convention organized by Yuva Sangama is a right step towards achieving national integration. Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Mutt, Gurpur, felt that the convention will be the stepping stone for building of the Hindu society of the future.

Regional president of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Prof M B Puranik, Sudhir Kumar Murulli, an advocate from Koppa, and Mahendra Kumar, immediate past state convener of Bajrang Dal, also addressed the convention.

Vishwa Hindu Parishat leader, Dhanya Kumar, Bajrang Dal leader, Sharan Pumpwell, and Muralikrishna Hamsatadka, participated as special invitees. Various other dignitaries also were present at the dais.

D Prabhakar Shetty, president of Yuva Sangama Samiti, welcomed. General secretary, Dayanand Shetty Ujiremar, delivered the introductory address. Arun Vittal proposed vote of thanks.

A grand procession that was taken out from Vittal Chandranath Basadi on this occasion before the beginning of the convention that culminated at the venue of the convention, was accompanied by Chende group, Dollu Kunita troupe, Bhajan troupes etc. District superintendent of police, Dr Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, camped in Vittal and personally supervised law and order situation. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, chairman of Coastal Development Authority, B Nagaraj Shetty, Puttur MLA, Mallika Prasad, Kalladka Dr Prabhakar Bhat etc., were among the audience.
