Nearly 5 Lakh Attend Mayawati's Show of Strength

Mayawati Presented Garland made of Hundreds of Rs. 1000 Notes

Lucknow, Mar 15 (PTI) :
It was a one woman show at the BSP rally marking the 76th birth anniversary of its founder Kanshi Ram on Monday with Chief Minister Mayawati being presented a garland made of hundreds of Rs 1000 notes while other leaders were literally relegated to the background.

Unlike previous occasions when the BSP supremo was greeted with bouquets, she was welcomed this time by a giant garland made of hundreds of Rs. 1000 notes by her ministers.

The garland also attracted the attention of the crowd at Ramabai Ambedkar maidan as they could not make out from a distance that it was made of currency notes. Some were heard discussing about the "shining garland" and concluded that it could be made of some "imported flowers".

Mayawati, who arrived at the venue on a helicopter amidst sloganeering by supporters led by senior ministers Naseemuddin Siddiqui and Lalji Verma, took the lone chair in the middle the dais, while all senior party leaders including the Assembly Speaker Sukhdev Rajbhar sat much behind her or were standing.

Members of Bahujan Volunteer Force, assigned the task of controlling the cadres during such rallies, could not stop themselves from breaking into a jig during a cultural show at the event. Men and women donning blue danced enthusiastically to songs in praise of the BSP chief and she looked on.

However, there were some anxious moments for party workers as some uninvited guests-- a swarm of bees-- arrived in front of the dais as Mayawati was addressing the rally but they soon disappeared without causing any harm.

Nearly 5 Lakh Attend Mayawati's Show of Strength

Lucknow, March 15 (IANS) Nearly half a million supporters gathered to cheer Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati at the party's silver jubilee function here Monday, where she hit out at the Congress party for "playing gimmicks" to woo Dalit votes.

The huge rally convened at the Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan was clearly aimed as a show of her might in the country's most populous state, where she rode to power on her own two and a half years ago. The rally also marked the 76th birth anniversary of her political mentor and BSP founder Kanshi Ram.

During her 90-minute speech which she read out, other than holding out a strong defence for the billions she has spent out of the state exchequer on her dream projects - memorials and statues - she also lashed out at the Congress.

She told the audience, "till I have the last drop of blood running in my veins I will continue to serve the cause of the Bahujan movement and till I am alive, I will not allow a Dalit to bow down his head before anybody", to thunderous applause.

Criticising opposition parties, she said that "the Congress in particular - cannot tolerate the rise of a 'Dalit ki beti' at the helm of affairs of India's most populous state, with the potential to even rise to greater heights and rule the country one day."

She said, "in its desperate bid to grab power in the state, the Congress is busy playing all kinds of gimmicks to woo the Dalit voters, whom it had used for remaining in power for 38 years before it was voted out."

Hitting out at Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi for his forays into Dalit homes and for sharing meals with Dalit families in Uttar Pradesh villages, she warned the people to "guard against" him and his mother, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, saying they "will continue to play such tricks to impress you". She went on to add, "don't vote for any party other than the BSP which is your true and committed well-wisher."

She also blamed the Congress-led central government for neglecting the state and for denying Uttar Pradesh its financial requirements. "The manner in which our demands were kept in the cold storage in New Delhi reflects the hollow claims of the Congress party that it was interested in bringing about the development of UP," she pointed out.

And giving explanations about her own inaccessibility, she said: "You all must be wondering why I do not visit villages or undertake surprise inspections in different parts of the state as I used to in my earlier stints; but let me tell you that since Kanshi Ram-ji was alive in those days, I was not required to attend to political work so I had all the time to devote to governance issues."

She said she is "truly hard-pressed for time" as she has to attend to both political as well as administrative work, "therefore instead of travelling myself, I have detailed some of my senior ministers and officials to undertake those tours".

This is nothing but a ploy, to give all accumulated unaccounted (Black) money to an accounted (White) status in the name of public donation. People must be assuming that such a garland is made out of party workers donation, which no sensible person will ever believe. This money is certainly accumulated through illegal means, and this woman used her brain, which is in her knees, to bring it to the notice of Income Tax department. She succeeded in doing that and will happily pay the tax for displayed amount.

Her party spokesman also announced that henceforth she will be greeted only by currency garlands. This arrogance shows that these people still have such unaccounted money in their warehouse. This is high time to bring in legislation to control such activities in the highest level, which is highly unlikely in India.

It is still fresh in public mind that last year an engineer was beaten infront of his wife and killed because he didn't pay Rs.50 lakhs for Mayawati's birthday. Since then I started hating this lady who gives lecture about Poverty, poor and humanity. India's 3 powerful and notorious Ministers.1.Laloo Prasad 2.Mayawati 3.Mulayan Singh . No one has got courage to touch them. CBI gave lot of evidence against Laloo's fodder scam. But total waste. Once upon a time Bihar was one of the main educational institution centres, now Laloo and co. made it most notorious place in the world.

It seems Mayavati is mad of money at the cost of the people. Immediate CBI inquiry should be ordered into the notes-garland episode. If Mayavati is compared to a coin, one side is her idos, and the other money. Indeed, she is a rare woman longing for power and money.

Garlands of Indian Currency Notes are used for pleasing the girls at ladies bars and other dance shows in India. This is another show in UP where a good turn out of rupees 1000 bills for the organizer. And the show is on opposite side here. It is not the girl is dancing, it is the people who dance and the Girl is watching.
People from UP are struggling for survival in Mumbai due to crazy tactics of MNS.What Mayawaiti is garlanded is insult for the Indian Currency. This could be one of the reasons why Indian currency is not accepted for exchange in many countries.

Did anyone question her from where such a big amount came to garland one of the most corrupted and Disgraceful Lady in Indian History who she calls DALIT LEADER. I am sure the Courts also can interfere in this matter. Let us see what Supreme Court has to say now and will do ? She spent more than 300 Crores for one day TAMASHA in a State where people are longing for ROTI KAPADA AND MAKAN.

Its sad part of our democracy. Personality cult and worship has taken over spirituality and ethics. A bunch of idiots ruling the masses. Mayawati is a political swami and can do whatever she likes and no one questions her. She has very cleverly and effectively and efficiently used the term "dalit" to score full marks to her advantage. Now I can say only one dalit is uplifted in whole of India, thats Ms Mayavati, the most eligible spinster.

Numbers do not add up to seats. The TDP had organized huge rallies of 10 Lakhs in Hyd, but come a cropper in the elections even though it was the only alternative to congress in AP. UP at least has different options. People think before they vote and Maya's downfall is imminent. She would have gained immensely if she had spent a fraction of the money on her vote-bank of Dalits instead of these grand shows. This only she is not immune to the manu-vadi nature of other parties which she always criticizes.
