Bantwal, Aug 16: Assistant sub-inspector of Vittal police station Vinod K S and his team were successful in arresting the person, who visited a shop in the guise of customer and looted the cash after fooling the owner of the shop.

Shafi alias Mohammed Shafi (27), a resident of Uppinangady Nejigaru Ambottu is the accused who is arrested by the police. The police are on the hunt for the second accused who is said to be of Kasargod origin.

The duo had approached a grocery store and seeing that the owner of the shop, Kuddupadavu resident Sridhar Rai, is an elderly person, had asked for cattle feed. When the owner was tendering change they looted Rs 33,000 from him by distracting him.

The accused had worn saffron colour shirt in order to mislead the police. However, the police were at last successful in arresting the culprit.

Accused Shafi has confessed during interrogation that he is accused in a rape case in Puttur city police station and also in four cases of theft in Beltangady and one theft case in Mangaluru. The accused has been produced to the court.

    He has enough charges to get hanged himself. No one will protest if sharia implemented on such criminals. No court/bail dramas, Sharia is the most practical solution to control crime.

    Disgusting .why such young men are instead of working hard and earning money do such criminality and take off the money others earned ?Rape too,God knows what else.Do parents know the work of their children and allow it.?shame on him.does your religion allow it?find it ok?Hang him upside down for life long .He should pay back that money immediately.

    Cant believe police aswell... not talking about this case, but many cases have happened where poor are caught instead of rich criminals and forced to confess... and police lodge a fir and put them behind bar... police are also corrupt... they die for money//
