Mangaluru, Aug 21: Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) today published the result of the common entrance test (CET). With this, the future course of the lives of nearly two lac students has been sealed.

The result has been announced by KEA in its official website, cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea.

It may be recalled that deputy chief minister, Dr Ashwath Narayan, had earlier said that the CET result would be out on August 20. But because of technical problems, it was delayed by a day. KEA said that the result is available online from 12 pm on Friday.

A total of 1,84,368 students had appeared for the examination including 1,800 from other states. The test was conducted in 497 centres in the state. Because of prevalence of coronavirus, it was a challenge for the students to appear for the examination, and transport arrangement was made for the students to reach the examination centres from their homes.

As many as 1.53 lakh students have cleared the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) to become eligible for admissions in engineering and technology courses across the state, an official said on Friday.

"As per the merit lists for different courses, 1.53 lakh candidates are eligible for engineering and technology courses, 1.27 lakh for agricultural and 1.29 lakh candidates for veterinary courses," said the official.

Similarly, 1.29 lakh candidates have become eligible for naturopathy and yoga courses and another 1.55 lakh students for B Pharma and D Pharma courses.

KCET 2020 was held in the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic, requiring the organisers to take extra precautionary measures, including physical distancing and sanitisation.

Among the examinees were 63 students infected with coronavirus, for whom separate examination centres were set up at Covid Care Centres under the supervision of medical professionals.

Likewise, the examination for students suffering from symptoms such as fever and cough was also conducted in separate rooms.
