250th Wilfy Nite - Dream of Wilfy to be Realized Soon

“United Youngsters is one organization that was close to Wilfy’s heart. He having founded it in the company of a few friends more than 50 years back, nurtured, guided and spirited it with love and pride till his very last. It is through the United Youngsters that Wilfy staged most of his musical shows. United Youngsters remain committed to continue and further the works of its mentor and guide Wilfy Rebimbus, and work with the same zeal and dedication, by leaving no stone unturned, to ensure that the great works of the legend will be passed on to the future generations. The guidance of his family members shall continue to be the stepping stone for every activity to be planned, organized and staged in the future,” he added.

"We also announce that the 250th Wilfy Nite, a milestone that was close to his heart will be staged soon. Till the date of his death, 248 musical nites have been successfully staged to packed audiences, both in India and abroad, including Canada.  His unfulfilled dream of staging the 250th Nite will be prime on our agenda and this is to announce that the Rebimbus family along with United Youngsters shall stage the 249th and 250th Wilfy Nite at a date and venue which shall be announced in due course,” said Leslie.

"The Rebimbus family calls upon all to kindly bless them in their future endeavours with a request that no person or body shall use the songs, lyrics and music of the late Wilfy Rebimbus by remixing and recording in any form whatsoever and staging shows and performances with his compositions. We have drawn up a long term plan to preserve, present, publish, perform and release his works in the form of songs, music, poems and plays among others for the pleasure of the community at large so that his precious compositions shall be listened and enjoyed by all over the years. We hereby commit ourselves to continue to perform even more unitedly and bring out his works on stage through performances, in musical albums and in every way possible and strive to keep his memory and works immortal,” said Leslie.

    Dear Leslie Rego,
You are doing a wonderful job by guiding Meena and Viswas on many issues regarding Wilfy's welfare and affairs,I have a small suggestion to you.You can request Ivan D'Souza to rename that whole of Jeppoo Bapal area as Wilfy nagar by giving a written representation to the Mangalore Corporation on behalf all the konkan fraternity.

I entirely agree with the decision to protect the rights of Wilfy's works by his family but with the exception of singing his songs in public by his admirers. whether it is commercial or non commercial, one must sing his songs for people to hear more and more and by this you promote his works. when Wilfy's songs sung in an organized manner with proper orchestra and preperations, it is nice to hear and this can be done by only professional artists. however, using his songs to create your own albums can not be tolerated.

Dear Leslie - Thank you so much for taking the appropriate initiatives in order to protect the creative and talented work of late Wilfy Rebimbos thru his music, lyrics and so many stage plays with all the prevailing Intgellectual Property Rights. I just viewed the dvd that you had given me last year after our gathering at the Mangalore Country Club. Its a very valuable document for our collection because Wilfy and Meena not only sang our favourite song that he had composed while he was at our farm but also made the entire audience to sing with him.

We could distinctly notice the uneasiness in Wilfy that night to sing this sentimental song on Feb.20, 2009, and we could feel that the symptoms of his ailment were bothering him physically and emotionally. Then he requested me to be the Chief Guest after 2 days at the Jeppoo Concert Hall but he and his family were missing for the occasion. Wilfy is the one who recommended you to be the best MC for our gathering and we not only fulfilled his desire but also realized that you are the best MC in town. The dvd that you gave me ends beautifully by myself and late Wilfy thanking you for your talented leadership. Do keep up the good work and help the Rebimbos family in their daily trials and challenges in life.

Dear Veena & Vishwas. I totally agree with your decision to safeguard your Dad's legacy - there can never be anyone who can replace your Dad a Legend. Being in the Gulf for so many years, I have seen people are used to take credit by performing other's creations and gain publicity and generate funds. Hence I request United Youngsters to remain united and guide the family in the best possible way.

Good point Leslie Wilfy Rebimbus spent his entire life in creating these literary valuables and offered to World Konkani Community. We should not only reserve these rights, we should also preserve his awards, creations, books, magazines, cassettes, CD's, DVD's, manuscripts, letters, etc., and have it in a special place and call it as "Wilfy Rebimbus Museum of Konkani Songs." This place should be available for public view with an entrance ticket like a tourist spot. We should organize these tours for schools, colleges, institutions so that they can have first hand look over these items and bring back his golden memories. Let Konkani Community work together to make it happen.
