Mangalore: Police Arrest Two Thieves – Stolen Assets Worth Rs 45 Lac Seized

Mangalore, Mar 23: In an operation, Mangalore east police and District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) sleuths arrested two persons who were behind thefts at residences of M V Shetty under Mangalore south police station limits in 2009 and Bharat Alva near Padua High School under Mangalore east police station limits, recently. Total assets worth Rs 44.83 lac too have been seized from the accused.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday March 23 superintendent of police Dr A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao said that the arrested have been identified as Ramesh Bikas Bhandary and Karan Khadga alias Kuyitu of Nepali origin. Karan has confessed to having commited theft in a house located behind the Padua school, along with his accomplices, Shiva Bhandary, Shailu Singh, Sahadeva, Bhista Singh, Pandav Singh, Raj Kumar Singh Thapa and Narayana Sai. The Mangalore east police after taking into custody and interrogating Ramesh Bhandary on March 17 found out that Karan Khadga was involved with the theft. Khadga was arrested on Monday March 22 near Kankanady circle.







On interrogation, Khadga confessed to be behind the theft at Padua. The police seized approximately Rs 80,000 worth assets such as laptop, binoculr and gold chain among others. Police also seized approximately Rs 41.62 lac worth gold and diamond jewels pawned in the name of Kuyitu's wife Sita at a co-operative society, Tokkottu near here. Rs 1.61 lakh worth gold jewels was further seized from a jewellery shop in the city.

The operation was conducted by Mangalore east police station inspector Nirajan Raj Urs N, DCIB police sub-inspector Raghav Padil along woth sub-ordinates, assistant sub-inspector Vishwanath Kunjathoor, Narendra, police constables Mohammed, Sheshappa Gowda, Lawrence, Prakash, Yashwanth, Karunesh, drivers Padmanabha and Jagadish.

    Police can solve all the problems but most of thier time goes to protect politicians. If I am wrong please correct me.

    Good job done by the police, locals should keep a close watch on the outsider's specialy their spending habits, must report anything suspicious. They may steal from other states and come to M'lore spend their loot and steal from M'lore and go to some other town.

    Congratulations to DCIB team and all the police officials who have been successful in solving so many theft cases in the recent past.If we see the profile of the culprits in recent cases most of them are from other states of India and may be assisted by locals in some cases. This seems to be the result of migration of people to work at Mangalore in the booming real estate and retails business.Is Mangalore becoming a easy get away for the culprits?.
