Sharjah, Mar 23: Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) celebrated its Annual Sports Meet 2010, at the Gulf Asian English High School, Sharjah recently.

It was nice to see on this fun-filled occasion, Bearys from different parts of UAE assembled here and participated whole-heartedly in large numbers in a spirit of community development.  

The following guests of honors attended the BCF’s Sports Meet 2010:

All the above guests were individually felicitated by the BCF.  

There were various sports events conducted and they all were very interesting and exciting and everyone from young to old took part in it with gusto and a spirit of fun and frolic. Everybody enjoyed the sportive event leaving behind all their tensions of life and work and it was really an event of the day. . 

There were lots of games like Volleyball, Cricket, Kabbadi, Running race, Balloon race, Relay race, Long jump, High jump, Sack race, etc. Many teams had participated in these games and had played it in the true spirit of the sports.

























In the Cricket Tournament, Nafees Group won the match and the runners up was Supreme Cricket Team. In the Football game, Bolar Team took the winner trophy and Uchila Brothers were the runners up.  In the Volley ball tournament, Eagle Kannagar “A” Team was the winner and Eagle Kannagar “B” team was the runners up.  In the Kabbadi Tournament, Supreme Dubai was the winner and Mangalore Royals were the runners up.  The other winners in the concerned games were as follows:

Cricket

Man of the series             : Imran (Nafis Group)
Best Bowler                         : Shafi (Supreme)
Best Batsman                     : Althaf (Nafis Group)

Volley Ball

Best All Rounder               : Tausif (Eagle Kannagar “B”)

Short Put
1st Place                                 : Althaf

1st Place                                 : Tausif

2nd Place                                : Abdul Rasheed

3rd Place                                : Kaiser Kannagar


Discus Throw
1st Place                                 : Haroon –KMAS Kundapura

The special attraction of the day was the Cookery Competition, which had a variety of mouth watering traditional Beary dishes and along with that there were more entertaining events such as Pani Puri Eating Competition for Ladies. The following were the winners in the Cookery Competition:

Deserts  : Nafeesa Aboosalih - 1st position
                Anisa Nawaz - 2nd position

Main Dish : Nafeesa Aboosalih – 1st position
                   Naziya Haneef Kaup – 2nd position
























It was indeed a fun filled event for the children and the adults alike and everyone enjoyed from the start till the end.  The BCF Sports Day was open for all the Bearys in the United Arab Emirates.  Kids namely Abeera, Tasmiya, Manal, Hadiqa, Misbee, Zainab, Farisha, Tanzeer, etc. also won several medals in their concerned sports event.

The Sports ground was equipped with all the necessary facilities such as play areas, seating arrangements, etc. There was a musical concert by Karavali Music.  The songs by Haneef Perliya and M.B. Akbar were wonderful and the audience gave a big round of applause.

BCF thanked the Event Chairperson Shahda and Vice chairpersons Humayun, Latif Mulky and other members such as K.M. Ashraf, Ashraf Shaikh, Iqbal (MEPHA), Sajpa, Haneef Perliya and the ladies including Mumtaz, Zeenat Ashraf, Mrs. Ismail, Ibrahim from Dubal, Afeeq, Toufiq, Sajpa, Haneef Perliya, Habeeb Adoor, M.B. Akbar, Haneef Kaup, Usman Moolur, Vasu K. Shetty (Britannia) and all the committee members for their dedication and hard work for the success of the event.  The BCF also thanked all the Referees for various events for taking out their time and attending this event.

Dr. B.K. Yusuf, conveyed his appreciation to all members as a mark of respect and honour for the work done for the development of the Beary’s.  The lunch in the form of Biryani was provided to all the people. Sweet was also served during the lunch hour. Around 250 Bearys attended this Sports day. 

Dr. B.K. Yusuf, President, BCF informed the audience that this type of sports gathering will bring the belongingness and the best talented persons could be located for representing in the sports activities around the world. Dr. Kaup announced the list of winners and Humayun proposed vote of thanks to all the guests and Bearys. 

To support the event, weather in Dubai played an important role as it was pleasant and cool throughout the day which kept the sporting members enjoying without being tired.
