Mangalore: Keshav Pande Bicycles Into City on Mission to Inspire Youth

Mangalore, Mar 25:
With the future world focused on youth power, a young man from Bihar, with Mahatma Gandhiji’s ideology, has planned to send a message to the people in power by riding a cycle all over India.

Holding a banner ‘Youth is power of the nation’, he wants to give a call to the younger generation.

Keshav Pande, 27, born in Muzaffur, Bihar, believes the ride will motivate some youths and inspire children. He plans to travel 10,000 kms all over India on his bicycle.

Having covered 4,001 kms from Srinagar in Kashmir, he reached Mangalore and spent some time with a group of men, youths in bus stands and other crowded places. His ride was inaugurated on January 12, on National Youth Day.

“As I was serving society through the National Service Scheme, I understood the power of youths and understood the need of youth service. The nation needs to concentrate on the youths by taking it in a positive way that education, healthy habits, and mission form a better society”, he said.

Pande’s rally of six months will end with the Seven Sisters of India—the north-east states—after traveling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and Porbandar to West Bengal. He aims to cover almost all states in India as well as each city in these states.

He wants to share a plan of his own with the youngsters of the country that everybody should save Rs 2 per day which must be used for developmental projects of the village or in their area as well as for social service.

Pande also wants to convey the message about the need for a green environment and conservation of water.

He is an NSS volunteer and lives most of the time with Dr S M Subbarao, founder of NSS. “I have no any other dreams other than serving the nation”, he said when asked about his future plans. After his graduation in commerce, he jumped in to serve the nation.

Interestingly, his bicycle has not developed any problem yet—not even a punctured tire—despite travelling 4,000 kms.

Jerry is dreaming of Nation building by mere lip service or by sitting at home peacefully. Whoever strived to build nation whoever it may be Abraham Lincoln or Mahatma Gandhi, they had worked very hard, mingled with common people, and sensed the pulse beat of different kind of inhabitants. Sacrifice is essential for Revolution.
