It's Official : M'lore- Manipal KSRTC Volvo Bus Services to Begin on Mar 27
Daijiworld Media Network—Mangalore (RS/CN)

Mangalore, Mar 25:  The long wait for the Volvo bus service by the Karnataka State Road Corporation (KSRTC) on the Manipal-Mangalore route will end on Saturday March 27.

As per the communication received from the office of Krishna Palemar, district in-charge minister, through the information department, he will inaugurate the bus from State Bank in the city while state home minister Dr V S Acharya will inaugurate the bus from Manipal simultaneously at 10.00 am on Saturday.

The Volvo buses have been ready at the KSRTC bus workshop at Kuntikana in the city for the last one month. Reportedly, the KSRTC officials were waiting for state transport minister R Ashok to celebrate the occasion in a grand manner.

Ashok had announced the proposal of introducing Volvo buses on the Manipal-Mangalore route, nearly a year and a half ago.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had told reporters during his visit to the district recently that there is no need to wait for anybody to inaugurate it and the buses should begin running immediately when questioned.

It is good that finally CM has maitained his words and started the services.
But it is the peoples turn now to maintain. Govt can only provide it is we to utilise it properly
Simply blaming taking a side of political party is always an hasty decission.

    Thank you very much.

Please do not praise anybody. It is the basic duty of the government in place to provide good facilities. The promise made was fulfilled after a year. However there was no word about how many buses will ply, how many trips they make per day and what was the frequency. This is how we function.

Whenever there is a statement about anything in this world, regardless of who has said it, do not believe it. But to analyse it and know the truth is wisdom (Kural: 423): Thiruvalluvar, a celebrated Tamil poet. do we want change? what is change? from good to bad or from bad to worse? when the earlier govt was in power there was such a big hue and cry over its style of governance. but what about now? some may feel that the earlier govt was better than the existing one.is it possible to change the way we function over a period of 5 years? oh, it takes more than 3 years for a drunkard to get rid of his addiction, then how can we change the style of governance. to change something, we have to be the change, i think gandhi said it and more recently even obama said it.are we willing to tolerate nepotism, arrogance etc? or are ok with substandard activities and not bothered with any wrong doing going on around.

Irrespective of the financial gain by the introduction of ksrtc volvo to manipal, we should appreciate the effort, though late. who wouldn't want a metro like transport network from kundapur to kasargod? when i left bangalore in 2004, metro had just started work. later hyderbad started its metro. i suppose the hyderabad metro is in its II phase. but ours is yet to get of the 'rails'. and 3 govts have changed seats.

iagree that bad roads and narrow roadswwill not make the journey any better except one has air conditioned bus.every small step for better transportation is a giant step forward, even other buses travel could be made better with cleaner buses no over crowding , no over loading etc.it is nice to see buses pling every 10 mns or less onthat route.i had seen vovo buses in india , are there no other buses sinilar to volvo either maufactured in india or imported

Good work honourable Chief Minister, if you do good work people always appreciate, now we need good roads to run these buses, BJP govt should concentrate on doing good for the public, then only every kannadiga will appreciate regardless of majority or minority.

This is very good news and I appreciate government decision. We need air conditioned buses in Mangalore, udupi area due to a massive weather condition, so that all common people enjoyed during their Dailey work or private journey trip towards Mangalore or towards udupi. I would suggest government should target in future convert all buses in to A/C , so that all areas commuting people get the same life style. This is wot we need in india and each local cities.. Good job government. I am sure this would bring more competition towards public and private sector in transport industry.
