Mangaluru, Aug 28: Deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V has directed by an order dated August 28 for the closure of all the recreation clubs in the district.

The order states that a detailed report of the virus spread received from the district health and family welfare officials state the following factors regarding recreation clubs:

  1. Not possible to maintain a minimum distance of one meter between each other while playing cards.
  2. High possibility of infection during the distribution of cards to other players in a card game when the person distributing the cards is infected.
  3. Players engrossed in the game are subjected to a range of emotions like anger, excitement, anxiety, making the possibilities of wearing masks less.
  4. It is not possible to control the activities of the recreation club members. Therefore, it is necessary to stop card games and other activities in the clubs.

As the spread of the coronavirus infection is on the rise, it is necessary to take important steps to effectively control its spread. If the orders for closure of the clubs are not followed, legal action will be taken under IPC 1860 section 188, against the concerned, the order stated.

If wearing masks the proper way made compulsory, this situation can be brought under control. Over populated city like Mangaluru is at high risk of spreading this disease since people have to move around for day to day work and no one knows who is infected and who not thereby at the receiving end.

Recreation clubs??? R u serious. Really in ur senses?? Ban political parties meetings, oath takings, hospital inauguration . All these important things dont get banned. For politicians thou rules r not applicable only. They r immortal.

I happen to take a drive through market road and hampankatta....... what a pity situation. People are either not wearing masks or the masks are under the chin or below the nose. Looks life no one has taken this pandemic seriously. No social distancing. Busses r full and people r without masks.

Just cant understand the situation. God save us all.

What about the Bunder area there you see most of the people without masks and no social distancing. The old port area the wholesale fish market even here no one use masks and no social distancing. Both the places are just behind your office, not very far for a visit. Please do visit the place specially the old port fish market in the morning eight o'clock would be idle time to get a good idea.
