Mangaluru, Aug 29: Several BJP activists, who were agitated at the fact that Kerala government had not allowed hassle-free entry at the state's border with Karnataka at Talapady, went to the police personnel guarding the border with a copy of the high court order in hand, to hold consultation. On this occasion, verbal friction ensued between the police personnel and the BJP activists, at the end of which the police resorted to light lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. This incident happened on Friday August 28 evening.

On Friday evening, the BJP leaders had discussed the issue with the police deployed at the national highway at Talapady border with Kerala. The police officials told them that from Thursday onward, as per the instructions of superiors, citizens from Manjeshwar, Varkady and Meenja panchayats were allowed to cross the order subject to production of Aadhar cards. They further said that they are helpless as they had not received any instruction about allowing people from other gram panchayats. They insisted that without instructions from their superiors, they cannot do anything in the matter.

The BJP leaders stood their ground, and demanded to allow free passage to people from other panchayats too. They said that the BJP is determined to continue to fight for the right of free passage till the government allows people from other panchayats too to enter Kerala. At that time, heated words were exchanged between the police and BJP leaders and the Kerala police resorted to light caning to disperse the crowd.

BJP Manjeshwar Mandal vice president, Padmanabha Kadappara, OBC Morcha state treasurer, Naveenraj K J, Yuva Morcha Manjeshwar Mandal president, Chandrakanth, Manjeshwar panchayat BJP general secretary, Avinash Hegde, Devaraj M S, Dayaprasanna Acharya, and Gurukiran Pavan Toominadu were present.

Light lati charge is like our favorite Late Cyril Dias master was beating us with ruler. He used to show his red eyes and also used to speak terrorizing words. But the ruler will be just touched to our hands. He was a kind teacher but these police are doing just show off.

But, why talapady police hit our people when they went to solve the problem in the interest of public? Where is our police team? Why we are not getting justice....? For everything we have to suffer... Hitting and all shows how venomous that side border is! When our own family member is getting beaten up by our neighbour, doesn't pain is? Doesn't hurt us?

Cynthia Bai, There is one easy way to Chase the Kerala police until (NOT into) "Hindu Maha Sagara " it's an FOC (free of charge ) suggestion!!!
"Tonight at 8:00 pm Ghanta Bajavo, Diya Jalavo & Phool Barsavo " automatically Kerala police will vacate the place , so people from both sides easily cross the border either way !!! If it's didn’t succeed in first attempt please keep on doing every day 8pm until you get the RESULTS!!!!!

The lathicharge on the activists on the border by the Kerala police is in fact a lathicharge on Karnataka police. Karnataka police should go and stand with the activists.
