Mangaluru, Sep 1: As the country is facing economic crisis and to avoid making the situation worse for the state, MLA U T Khader urged the state government to reject the proposal by the central government of raising loans after they refused to pay GST compensation to the state.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, September 1, Khader said, "The central government has completely failed in its administration and stepped back from their responsibilities. After blaming the people, now the government is blaming God. Who is responsible for GDP downfall and employment crisis? This is clearly not an act of God but an act of fraud.
"GST compensation is every state's right. Earlier, the UPA government had said that GST is the best policy but worst implemented. The UPA government had framed and drafted GST rules. Later, BJP took the entire credit to have introduced GST. Blaming their failure, they did not spare even God, will they spare Congress?
Khader said that the state should refuse to take the burden of the failure of the centre and condemned the state MPs being mute to the situation. He strongly condemned the central government for not taking responsibility for the disaster caused in the country's economy.
"Instead of demanding the state government to raise loans, the central government should take loan. Why should the state take responsibility for the failure of the economy? The state government should even reject the proposal of raising loan and instead pressurize the central government. None of MPs are uttering a single word as they are aware that the people have voted them in the name of Modi. Where is the slogan now of 'One nation one tax'? The central government is not taking any kind of responsibilities. No funds have been released for disaster, 15th finance, compensation for auto drivers, barbers, many are not paid with the salaries and no proper schemes for aided teachers from the government is provided," said Khader.
The MLA suggested the finance minister be changed and replaced with an efficient minister for the post if the country wished for better economy. "If this country has to change to be better, change the finance minister. When Arun Jaitely was the finance minister, no one questioned. Now that the minister is coming up with different statements to reason the severe downfall in GDP, it is better to change based upon her performance," said Khader.
District Congress president Harish Kumar, former MLAs J R Lobo and Abhayachandra Jain, former MLC Ivan D’Souza, and former mayor Kavitha Sanil were present at the meeting.
